Eight arms.
One VM.
Nothing unwatched.

Octotor inventories, monitors, and repairs every asset across every customer you manage. Built for MSPs and internal IT teams — one self-hosted system where your RMM, your monitoring stack and your asset spreadsheets used to be. Install and run on a local VM or a cloud VPS.

INVENTORY

Agentless discovery over SSH, WinRM and SNMP — hardware, disks, software and accounts, kept current on schedule. Devices and users side by side, filtered any way you work.

SCHEDULED TASKS

Recurring jobs on any schedule — collection sweeps, health checks, maintenance scripts — across customers and targets, with every run and its output in the history.

EVERYTHING ON THE RECORD

One searchable timeline of every event, job and change — filter by customer, asset, category or time and see exactly what happened, and what it printed.

MONITORING & ALERTS

Ping, TCP and SNMP checks with live status the moment it changes — and an Alert Center that shows what fired, what resolved, and what a rule did about it.

AI ASSISTANT

Plug in the cloud AI you already use, or run the local assistant fully offline. Ask it about your fleet — it answers from your live database.

One place instead of five logins.

One of the challenges in IT management and troubleshooting is that information is scattered between multiple independent sources (such as Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Network Equipment, etc). Octotor gathers and aggregates all of this into one page, per asset or per user.

One script. Three ways to set it off.

A script from your toolkit is written once and fired three ways. However it starts, it presses the same button and runs the same tested script — and every run lands in the job history with its output.

SCHEDULED TASKS

Recurring jobs on any schedule — collection sweeps, health checks, maintenance scripts — per customer or across the fleet.

IT HELP DESK

Help-desk users work with scoped permissions — they run the approved actions without ever holding admin credentials.

INVESTIGATE EVENTS

One searchable timeline of every event, job and change — filter by customer, asset, category or time.

ALERT CENTER

Open alerts in one queue — acknowledge, resolve, and see what fired, what recovered, and what a rule did about it.

LIVE MONITOR

A live status board of your monitored assets — state flips the moment a check changes.

JOB HISTORY

Every run ever executed, with its full output and exit code — and who or what fired it.

ASSET DISCOVERY

Network scans propose new assets; you review and approve what joins the inventory.

ACCOUNT DISCOVERY

Directory and cloud accounts are discovered and linked to their people and machines.

CREDENTIALS VAULT

Credentials stored encrypted on your VM and used by jobs — operators never see the values.

MULTI-CUSTOMER

Every asset, alert, job and permission scoped per customer — one console for all of them.

ROLE-BASED ACCESS

Admins, operators and viewers — page and action permissions per user group.

UPDATE CHECKS

A daily anonymous check tells the console when a new release is out. No instance data leaves.

Questions, answered
Does any of my data leave the VM?

No. No telemetry, no analytics, no usage reporting, no license phone-home — Octotor runs air-gapped. The optional daily update check fetches a version number and sends no instance data.

What does Octotor replace?

The RMM, the separate monitoring stack, and the asset spreadsheets — one self-hosted system that inventories, watches and acts on every asset across every customer you manage.

Do my technicians need admin credentials?

No. Permissions define exactly which actions a help-desk user or group may run — they execute scripts requiring domain-admin rights without ever seeing an admin credential, and every action lands on the record with its output.

What do I need to install it?

One clean Debian 13 VM with curl installed (apt install curl — a fresh Debian doesn't include it) — on your hypervisor or your cloud account. The installer brings Docker, Compose and the signature tooling with it, and every container image is signature-verified before it runs. See the deploy guide.

How is it priced?

Per asset — $1 per asset per month, with a free Community edition up to 10 assets. An asset is a user, a computer, or a managed network device (switch, firewall). Details and the full tier matrix are on the Plans page.

Can I try it without signing up?

Yes — the live demo is open, runs on sample data, and needs no account. Every screenshot on this page links straight into the view it shows.
